ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2004

ROBBERY:

Intersection of Duke and Jordan Sts. 01-04/ 12:30 a.m. The victim, a 22-year-old male City resident, had just left a nearby convenience store where he attempted to intervene during a dispute with the suspect and a store clerk. When the victim left the store, the suspect followed and began to argue with him. The verbal confrontation soon escalated into a fight and the suspect chased the victim, threw a brick at him, and then struck him with a tree branch before running away. The suspect is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic male,180-220 pounds and was wearing a blue fleece jacket and blue jeans. The victim did not require medical treatment.

4801 W. Braddock Rd. 01-02/ 7:26 p.m. The victim, a 48-year-old female Arlington resident, had just parked her car and was about to exit when she was approached by a man. The suspect produced a knife, pushed the victim into her car and demanded money. A struggle ensued between the victim and the suspect as the suspect attempted to force the victim to drive away. Soon after, another car entered the parking lot and the suspect exited the car and fled on foot. Police were called, searched for the suspect and stopped an individual nearby. The suspect, Jamal Coker, a 29-year-old male and resident of 1400 Iverson Street, Oxon Hill Maryland, was taken to police headquarters and questioned. He was later charged with Attempt Carjacking, Attempt Robbery, Attempt Abduction, and Assault.

4200 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave. 01-04/ 9:20 p.m. The victim, a 40-year-old male Arlington resident, was walking when he was approached by three men. The suspects were wearing ski masks and one of them produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspects then fled from the area on foot. The suspects were described as black males, 18-25 years old and approximately 5'8"-6', 150-180 pounds.

3800 blk. of Executive Ave. 01-04/ 9:25 p.m. The victim, a 31-year-old male City resident, was walking when he was approached by three men. One of the suspects produced a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspects fled on foot. The suspects were described as being 22-28 years old, one was wearing a ski mask and all three were wearing black sweaters and dark blue jeans.

411 E. Braddock Rd. 01-03/ 6:10 p.m. The victim, a 41-year-old male City resident, was robbed while working as a nighttime clerk at a convenience store. The suspect entered the store, collected numerous food items and began to leave the store when the victim attempted to stop him. The suspect pushed the victim out of the way and left the store with the stolen merchandise. The suspect is described as a black male, 25-35 years old, 5'10"-6', 160-170 pounds and was wearing a blue ski jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers.

BURGLARY:

Unit blk. of S. Reynolds St. 12-23/ between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Someone gained entry to the residence by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry.

100 blk. of S. Bragg St. 01-05/ 12:40 a.m. Someone gained entry to the victim's hotel room by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole money. The victim was asleep however, woke up when he heard someone leaving his room. The suspect was described as a male, approximately 5'6"-5'8", 160-170 pounds and was wearing a black jacket and dark pants.

608 N. St. Asaph St. 12-31/ 5:00 p.m. - 01-02/ 10:30 a.m. Someone forced open a door to gain entry to the business. Once inside, the suspect attempted to enter a safe. Nothing was stolen.

500 blk. of S. Van Dorn St. 01-03/ between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Stolen: 1994 International truck, white.

5800 blk. of Quantrell Ave. 01-02/ 5:30 p.m. - 01-03/ 7:30 a.m. Stolen: 1999 Honda Civic, 2 door, red.

3200 blk. of Commonwealth Ave. 01-03/ 11:30 p.m. - 01-04/ 8:30 a.m. Stolen: 1990 Ford Taurus, 4 door, white.

700 blk. of N. Alfred St. 01-03/ 11:00 p.m. - 01-04/ 7:00 a.m. Stolen: 2000 Toyota Corolla, 4 door, red.
