ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS
FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 2004
ATTEMPT FELONIOUS ASSAULT:
5800 blk. of Duke St. 04-15/ 9:34 a.m. An Alexandria woman reported that her estranged husband was suicidal and had access to weapons. Approximately 15 minutes later, police received calls for shots fired outside Landmark Mall at 5801 Duke Street. The woman believed that her husband may have been involved. Officers responded to the scene but the suspect was no longer there.
Within minutes the suspect called police and indicated that he wanted to surrender. He stated that he was at the Bradlee shopping center in the 3600 block of King Street. Officers arrived, found the suspect in his pick-up truck parked in the parking lot, and took him into custody. A handgun was located and secured. The suspect was initially brought to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was seen by medical staff and later transported to police headquarters.
During the investigation, police located a 47-year-old Woodbridge woman who was working as a security guard at Landmark Mall and determined that she was the individual that the suspect shot at while he was at the mall. She was not injured. Police arrested Leslie Mogford, a 31-year-old male of 3705 Taft Avenue in the City, and charged him with Attempt Malicious Wounding. He is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail.
4606 Kenmore Ave. 04-15/ 11:15 p.m. Police responded to an alarm call and discovered that a suspect was hiding inside the business. The suspect, Benjamin Dixon, a 30-year-old male and resident of 7970 Jamie Lee Drive in Fairfax County, was taken into custody without incident and charged with Burglary.

500 blk. of N. Armistead St. 04-14/ 7:00 p.m. - 04-15/ 11:00 a.m. Stolen: 1995 Honda Civic, 4 door, black.
1400 blk. of N. Greenmount Dr. 04-12/ 11:00 p.m. - 04-15/ 11:11 p.m. Stolen: 2002 Suzuki motorcycle, black/yellow.
