ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

3700 blk. of Jefferson Davis Hwy. 04-20/ 4:40 p.m. The victim, a 16-year-old Arlington boy, was waiting for a bus when the suspect approached him. The suspect demanded the bag the victim was carrying which contained new tennis shoes. The suspect punched the victim and took the bag and the victim's cell phone. The suspect was then seen running west on East Reed Avenue. The victim not seriously injured. Later in the evening, police located a suspect and arrested him. William Mayo, 50, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Robbery.
400 blk. of N. Armistead St. 04-20/ between 1:45 a.m. and 1:52 a.m. The victim, a 50-year-old Alexandria woman, awoke to find a man in her bedroom. He was about to remove money from her purse when she screamed. He then fled from the apartment. Police believe the suspect gained entry by forcing open a door or through a window. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 20-40, 5'5"-5'10", 180-240 lbs., and wearing a black shirt and dark pants.
5800 blk. of Quantrell Ave. 04-21/ 12:35 a.m. The victim, a 19-year-old Alexandria woman, awoke to find a man in her bedroom. He was armed with a knife and threatened her. When she screamed, he struck her but other family members ran into the room. The suspect fled through a window. One family member reports seeing a white van leaving the area. Police believe the suspect gained entry through a window. The victim was transported to INOVA Alexandria Hospital for a minor facial injury. The suspect is described as a white male, bearing a black knit cap and a grey shirt.
It is not yet known if these two cases are related, although both locations are in the same general area. Police urge people to keep their windows and doors closed and locked at night.
