ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

BURGLARY UPDATE:
A 16-year-old Alexandria male was arrested last night and charged with the April 27 burglary of an apartment in the 5800 block of Quantrell Avenue. In that case, a 13-year-old girl awoke to find the suspect, armed with a knife, in her room. When she screamed, the suspect fled. Through investigation, police identified the suspect as an Alexandria juvenile and charged him with Burglary While Armed. Because of his age, police cannot release his name or address. Investigation into two similar burglaries in the same neighborhood continues.
FELONIOUS ASSAULT:
Unit blk. of W. Reed Ave. 04-27/ 5:26 p.m. The victim, a 22-year-old Alexandria man, was stabbed by a suspect known to him. The victim and the suspect were drinking together and exchanged words. The suspect stabbed the victim, causing multiple injuries. The victim was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening. He is in serious but stable condition. Police stopped two individuals nearby and one was identified as the suspect. Omar Enrique Cabrera, age 28 and resident of 211 Tennessee Avenue in Alexandria, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. He is being held at the Alexandria jail.
BURGLARY:
4406 Wheeler Ave. 04-24/ 3:30 p.m. - 04-26/ 5:50 a.m. Someone gained entry to the business by tampering with a door. Once inside, the suspect stole a safe and its contents.
