ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

TUESDAY, JULY 13, 2004

CARJACKING ATTEMPT & BURGLARY:

Intersection of Quantrell and Lincolnia Aves. 07-11/ between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The Metropolitan Police Department pursued a suspect vehicle from the District into Virginia. The suspect vehicle, a black, two-door Mercedes Benz, stopped at Quantrell and Lincolnia avenues. Two suspects exited the car and one fled. The other suspect approached the driver of a 2001 Honda Prelude and displayed a handgun. He ordered the victim driver, a 41-year-old man from the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, out of the car. The victim complied and began to move away. The suspect did not take the victim's car but returned to the Mercedes Benz and drove away. The suspect drove to the 400 block of North Armistead Street and broke into an apartment building. He entered two different residences, cutting himself as he broke into one. MPD pursued the suspect and Alexandria officers responded as well. MPD apprehended the suspect inside one of the units. He was transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was treated and released from the hospital. Police searched for the second suspect but were unable to locate him. Chtiani Novredinne, a 29-year-old resident of 1806 Great Falls Street in McLean, was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking and two counts of Statutory Burglary. He is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail.

ROBBERY:

3800 blk. of Executive Ave. 07-13/ 12:25 a.m. The victim, a 21-year-old Alexandria man, was approached by two suspects and one of them displayed a knife. The armed suspect then stole the victim's wallet and both suspects fled. The victim was not injured. Suspect #1 is described as a white Hispanic male, 5'4"-5'6", with a stocky build and wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. Suspect #2 is described as a white Hispanic male, 5'4"-5'6", with a stocky build and wearing a black shirt and black pants.

BURGLARY:

3400 N. Beauregard St. 07-12/ between 3:00 a.m. and 4:16 a.m. Someone pried open a door to gain entry to the office. Nothing was stolen.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

5800 blk. of Duke St. 07-12/ between 10:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Stolen: 1999 Honda Accord, 4 door, green.

400 blk. of N. Fayette St. 07-11/ 9:00 p.m. - 07-12/ 9:00 a.m. Stolen: 2002 Acura TLS, 4 door, silver.
