ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

ROBBERY:
4700 blk. of Seminary Rd. 07-27/ between 4:05 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. The victim, a 78-year-old Alexandria woman, was walking toward the library when the suspect ran up to her. He grabbed her purse from her shoulder and then ran east on Seminary. A man who lives nearby saw the suspect run by and heard the victim's screams. The good Samaritan, a 35-year-old construction worker, began to chase the suspect. When a police car approached the scene, the man flagged down the officer and directed him to the suspect. The officer apprehended the suspect, who still had the purse, in the 4500 block of Seminary Road. Neither the victim nor the good Samaritan was injured. Darryl J. Watkins, 21, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Robbery. He is being held at the Alexandria jail.
