ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2004

HOMICIDE:

200 blk. of N. Fayette St. 09-10/ 10:08 p.m. A pizza delivery man was shot in the chest and transported to Inova Fairfax County Hospital. The victim later died as a result of his gunshot wound.

Investigation revealed that the victim, a 47-year-old man, had just completed a pizza delivery to a business in the 200 block of North Fayette Street. He was returning to his vehicle when approached by a lone suspect who shot him. The suspect then fled on foot and was seen entering a black Subaru which left the area traveling west on Cameron Street.

A short time later, police were called to a report of a robbery that had occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the 800 block of South Lee Street. In this case, a 35-year-old female City resident was robbed at gunpoint. The victim had just arrived home and was about to enter her residence when an armed man approached her from behind. The suspect, described as a black male, forced the victim into her home and robbed her. The suspect then fled on foot.

Moments later, Fairfax County police observed a black Subaru and gave pursuit just south of the City on the George Washington Parkway. The vehicle first traveled south and then turned around and entered the City. The suspects, both black males, abandoned the vehicle in the 900 block of South Alfred Street and fled on foot. The suspects were eventually caught in the 300 block of North Saint Asaph Street and taken into police custody.

The victim, an Alexandria City resident, who was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m., has been identified as Musharaf Shah.

The two suspects were later charged with the robbery of an Alexandria woman at her home. Antowaun Lynch, 20, of 1005 Balsamtree Drive in Fairmount Heights, Maryland. Both suspects are being held without bond at the Alexandria jail. The identity of the second suspect has not yet been determined.ATTEMPT SEXUAL ASSAULT:

600 blk. of S. Pickett St. 09-19/ between 6:30 a.m. and 6:55 a.m. The victim, a 33-year-old female, was walking to a nearby parking lot to retrieve her car, when a man in a black vehicle pulled alongside and asked if she needed a ride. The victim accepted the ride and entered the suspect's car. Both arrived at the destination where the victim's truck was parked however, the suspect passed it and parked his car in a nearby alley. The victim exited the vehicle and the suspect grabbed her. Both struggled and the suspect attempted to remove her clothing. The suspect stopped his advances and the victim walked to her truck. Police were called and a search of the area for the suspect, described as a black male 28-32, 5'9"-5'11", 170-190 pounds who was wearing a black shirt and black jeans, was unsuccessful.

ROBBERY:

3700 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave. 09-18/ 1:15 a.m. The victim, a 39-year-old male City resident, was approached by two men. The suspects grabbed his cell phone and his necklace and fled on foot. Suspect #1 is described as an Hispanic male, 20-22 years old, 5'6"-5'7", 175-185 pounds and was wearing a white and blue shirt and blue jeans. Suspect #2 is described as an Hispanic male, 20-22 years old, 5'6"-5'7", 175-185 pounds and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

6200 blk. of Duke St. 09-19/ 11:33 a.m. The victim, an 89-year-old female City resident, was approached from behind by a man who stole her pocketbook. The suspect, described as a black male,18-20 years old, 6'-6'2", 200-210 pounds and wearing a white shirt and dark pants, fled from the area on foot.

BURGLARY:

5990 Duke St. 09-17/ 9:00 p.m. - 09-18/ 7:21 a.m. Someone entered the business by force through a front service bay door window. On Saturday morning, employees opening the business discovered the suspect sitting inside one of the cars which was secured in the bay area. Police were called and took the suspect into custody. It was apparent that the suspect had cut himself when he entered the business through the broken glass window. The suspect, Charles Smith, a 32-year-old male with no fixed address, was transported to the hospital where he was treated for a cut foot and then transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Statutory Burglary.

2316 Shirlington Rd. 09-18/ 5:35 a.m. Someone entered the business by force through the front glass door. It is unknown if anything was stolen.

5800 blk. of Pearson Ln. 09-17/ 9:30 p.m. - 09-18/ 12:00 p.m. Stolen: 1999 Honda Accord, 4 door, dark green.

900 blk. of N. Alfred St. 09-16/ 3:00 p.m. - 09-18/ 5:00 p.m. Stolen: 1997 Nissan Altima, 4 door, black.

4900 blk. of Brenman Park Dr. 09-16/ between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Stolen: 1994 Ford Bronco, 2 door, black.

400 blk. of Cameron Station Blvd. 09-14/ 6:00 p.m. - 09-17/ 4:00 p.m. Stolen: 1997 Toyota RAV-4, sport utility, green.

3300 blk. of Wyndham Cir. 09-12/ 12:00 p.m. - 09-17/ 6:45 p.m. Stolen: 1997 Plymouth Neon, 4 door, green.
