ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2005

CARJACKING & ROBBERY:

On Saturday, there were at least five incidents targeting pizza delivery men in the West End, including two carjackings. Police believe the following cases are related:

Attempt Robbery

4300 blk. of Raleigh Ave. 02-26/ 2:45 p.m. The victim, a 59-year-old Woodbridge man, had just made a pizza delivery when a suspect approached him outside an apartment building. The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded the victim's money. Just then some people got out of a car that was parked nearby and began walking toward the building. The suspect ran off without any money. He was seen getting into the passenger side of a two-door grey car which drove off. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 20-25, 5'10", 180 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, a black jacket and black pants.

Robbery

500 blk. of Canterbury La. 02-26/ 7:00 p.m. The victim, a 40-year-old Alexandria man, was attempting to make a pizza delivery when two suspects approached him. Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's money. As the victim began to comply, Suspect #2 removed money from the victim's pocket. The suspects then ran to an off-white four-door car parked nearby and drove away. The victim was not injured. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 20-25, 5'7"-5'10", 165-170 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, a black coat and black pants. Suspect #2 is described as a black male 20-25, 5'7"-5'10", 135-140 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, a black coat and black pants.

Carjacking

5400 blk. of N. Morgan St. 02-26/ 8:18 p.m. The victim, a 25-year-old Alexandria man, was returning to his car after making a pizza delivery when Suspect #1 approached. The suspect implied he had a gun and demanded money. The victim complied. The suspect then got into the victim's vehicle which had the keys in the ignition. The victim began struggling with Suspect #1 but a second suspect approached him from behind. Suspect #2 told the victim to leave and the victim walked away. Suspect #1 drove away in the victim's car, a 2005 Ford Focus, and Suspect #2 was last seen driving away in a dark SUV. The victim was not injured. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 5'6"-5'9", 160-170 pounds, and wearing a dark ski mask and a black coat. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 5'9"-5'11", 170-180 pounds, and wearing a black coat and hair braided in cornrows.

Carjacking

5500 blk. of Ascot Ct. 02-26/ 8:27 p.m. The victim, a 30-year-old Alexandria man, had just returned to his car after making a pizza delivery when the suspect opened the passengers' door. The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The victim complied. The suspect then took the victim's keys and went to the driver's door. He ordered the victim out of the car, got in and drove away. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and black pants. The Ford Focus, which had been stolen earlier from N. Morgan St., was recovered nearby. The car stolen in this case is a silver, four-door, 1998 Honda Civic, with Virginia tags 1006-BBC.

Suspicious Event

5400 blk. of Barrister Pl. 02-26/ between 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. The victim, a 43-year-old Alexandria man, had just entered his car after making a pizza delivery when a car with two men inside drove up to his. The car stopped in front of the victim's car and one man got out, covering his face with a black cloth. The victim honked his horn several times and the suspect returned to the car. The suspect car, a light-colored Honda, then drove away. The victim was not injured and no attempt at robbery was made.

BURGLARY:

4600 blk. of Duke St. 02-26/ between 12:00 midnight and 11:00 a.m. Someone pried open a lock to the storage facility at the residence. Once inside, the suspect stole furniture.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

5400 blk. of Bradford Ct. 02-23/ 8:00 p.m. - 02-24/ 5:30 a.m. Stolen: 1996 Honda Accord, 4 door, silver.

700 blk. of Four Mile Rd. 02-19/ 8:00 p.m. - 02-20/ 10:00 a.m. Stolen: 2002 Honda Civic, 2 door, black.
