ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2005

FELONIOUS ASSAULT:

4000 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave. 07-03/ 9:50 p.m. The victims, a 35-year-old Alexandria man and a 34-year-old Alexandria man, approached a police officer working in the area and told him they had been cut with a small knife as they exited a nearby convenience store. The suspect was seen in the immediate vicinity and began to run away when the officer approached him. The suspect, Luis Barriento-Melendez, a 25-year-old man and resident of 3808 Executive Ave., Apt. D-22 in Alexandria, was apprehended and brought to police headquarters for questioning. The victims were transported to area hospitals where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The suspect was later arrested and charged with Felonious Assault.

ROBBERY:

3100 blk. of S. 28th St. 07-03/ between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. The victim, a 34-year-old Woodbridge man, was just exiting his parked car when he was approached by three men. Suspect #1, described as a black male with a muscular build punched him, and then sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. Another suspect demanded money and the victim complied. After the victim gave the suspects his wallet, one of the suspects punched him, knocking him to the ground. All three suspects then fled on foot. The other two suspects were described as black males.

BURGLARY:

Unit blk. of E. Linden St. 06-30/ between 9:20 a.m. and 5:35 p.m. Someone entered the residence by undetermined means. Once entry was gained, the suspect stole jewelry and electronic equipment.

1700 blk. of Commonwealth Ave. 07-03/ 4:18 a.m. The victim, a 24-year-old Alexandria woman, was awakened by a strange man in her bed. The suspect attempted to pin the victim down, but she managed to escape into another room alerting her roommates. The suspect then left the residence through a bedroom window. It appears that the suspect entered the home by forcing entry through the same window he exited the home from. The suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years old, thin, with short hair and wearing dark clothing.

Unit blk. of Dale St. 07-02/ between 6:55 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. Someone entered the residence by force through a rear door. Once entry was gained, the suspect stole a purse.

Unit blk. of E. Braddock Rd. 07-03/ 11:30 p.m. - 07-04/ 10:00 a.m. Stolen: 1997 Acura Integra, 2 door, red.

5700 blk. of Dunster Ct. 07-03/ 11:30 p.m. - 07-04/ 1:30 a.m. Stolen: 1994 Honda Accord, 4 door, light blue.

200 blk. of Luna Park Dr. 06-29/ 8:00 p.m. - 06-30/ 7:15 p.m. Stolen: 2000 Suzuki motorcycle, blue and silver.

200 blk. of Luna Park Dr. 06-29/ 8:00 p.m. - 07-01/ 8:45 a.m. Stolen: 2003 Suzuki motorcycle, GSXR 1000, chrome.

5400 blk. of Bradford Ct. 06-30/ 9:30 p.m. - 07-01/ 6:10 a.m. Stolen: 1996 Lincoln Continental Towncar, 4 door, black.

800 blk. of N. St. Asaph St. 06-30/ 10:30 p.m. - 07-01/ 6:00 a.m. Stolen: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, 4 door, brown.

600 blk. of N. West St. 06-30/ 6:00 p.m. - 07-01/ 6:45 a.m. Stolen: 2005 Yamaha F1, motorcycle, black.

4400 blk. of Raleigh Ave. 06-30/ between 2:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Stolen: 1985 Volkswagen Golf, 4 door, light blue.

1600 blk. of Kenwood Ave. 07-02/ between 12:01 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Stolen: 1997 Honda Civic, 4 door, silver.

1100 blk. of N. Pitt St. 07-01 2:00 p.m. - 07-02/ 8:00 a.m. Stolen: 2004 Honda motorcycle, VTR-1000, black.
