ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2005

FELONIOUS ASSAULT:

300 blk. of Duke St. 09-02/ 1:30 a.m. Three Alexandria police officers were stabbed as they attempted to stop and question a suspect in Old Town. This morning at approximately 1:30 a.m., police stopped a man who was acting suspicious looking into cars with a flashlight. While police detained the man and began their questioning, the suspect started to fight with the officers. During the fight, the suspect, a 17-year-old Alexandria man, cut or stabbed all three officers. The suspect managed to get away while other officers gave chase. The three officers who were initially cut, were transported to area hospitals where they were all treated and released for their non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was later apprehended and taken into custody. Multiple felony charges are pending at this time. A news release was posted on the City's web site.

ROBBERY:

1700 blk. of King St. 08-31/ 10:20 p.m. The victims, a 53-year-old woman and her 58-year-old husband, both Maryland residents, were robbed at gunpoint. The victims were walking to their car, which was parked in a hotel parking lot, when the suspect appeared, pointed a gun at them and demanded cash. The female victim complied and the male victim fled on foot. The suspect gave chase, caught the fleeing victim and struck him in the head. The suspect then fled from the scene on foot. The male victim was not seriously injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 6'-6'2", 175-200 pounds and was wearing a black mask, a black shirt and black pants.

100 blk. of N. Paxton St. 08-31/ 10:24 p.m. The victim, a 47-year-old Alexandria man, was attacked by four unidentified black males and robbed. The victim was approached as he walked on North Paxton Street. The victim was frightened and began to run away. The suspects gave chase, caught the victim and assaulted him. During the assault, one of the suspects brandished a knife while the other suspects stole the victim's wallet, money, cell phone, and keys. There is no further description on the suspects.



BURGLARY:

4700 blk. of Surrey Pl. 08-31/ between 5:30 p.m. and 5:39 p.m. The victim heard someone in the residence and confronted the suspect inside. The victim questioned the suspect and then called police. The suspect was still inside as police arrived and took the man into custody. The suspect, later identified as Twumasi Ankrah, a 30-year-old male with no fixed address, was taken into custody and charged with Statutory Burglary.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

6100 blk. of Edsall Rd. 08-30/ 9:00 p.m. Stolen: 2002 Chevrolet Astro van, white/orange.
