ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2005

FELONIOUS ASSAULT:

Corner of E. Reed and Commonwealth Aves. 09-19/ between 3:00 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. The victim, a 36-year-old Alexandria man, was walking when he was approached by two subjects. One asked him for a cigarette and when the victim attempted to walk away, both subjects assaulted him. One tried to force him to the ground and the second brandished a broken beer bottle. The victim tried to grab the bottle and was cut. Both suspects then fled. The victim was treated at Inova Alexandria Hospital for a cut to the hand and other minor injuries. The first suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 20-29, 5'10"-6', 180-190 pounds and wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. The second suspect, who had the broken bottle, is described as a white Hispanic male, 18-25, 5'6"-5'7", 150-160 pounds, and wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

ROBBERY:

3800 blk. of Russell Rd. 09-19/ 2:20 a.m. The victim, a 33-year-old Alexandria man, was talking on his cell phone when the suspect walked up to him. The suspect took a knife from his pocket, cut the victim's hand and robbed him of his cell phone. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injury. Police located the suspect in the 4000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue. Carlos Roberto Herrera, 35, of 6333 Indian Run in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, was charged with Robbery, Malicious Wounding and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

3050 Duke St. 09-18/ between 9:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The victim, a 54-year-old Alexandria man, was working as a manager when the suspects entered the victim business. One suspect approached the counter and began to make a small purchase. The second suspect then walked behind the counter and punched the victim. As the second suspect removed the victim's wallet, the first removed money from the cash register. Both suspects then fled. The victim was treated at Inova Alexandria Hospital for minor injuries. Both suspects are described as black males, 5'7"-5'9" and 175-195 pounds.

SEXUAL BATTERY:

100 blk. of E. Linden St. 09-19/ between 6:15 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The victim, a 27-year-old Alexandria woman, was jogging when the suspect approached her from behind. He touched her inappropriately and when she turned back, he ran away. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 30-35, 5'7"-5'8", 160-170 pounds, and wearing a white t-shirt, a red shirt over it, and dark shorts.

BURGLARY:

5500 blk. of N. Morgan St. 09-14/ between 9:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Someone gained entry to the residence by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole household items and toiletries.

3901 Mt. Vernon Ave. 09-18/ between 1:35 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Someone gained entry to the business by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole a safe.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

5900 blk. of Mayflower Ct. 09-17/ 4:45 p.m. - 09-18/ 4:45 p.m. Stolen: 1990 Toyota Camry, 4 door, blue.

5300 blk. of Duke St. 09-17/ 6:00 p.m. - 09-18/ 9:00 a.m. Stolen: 1995 Honda Accord, 4 door, gold.

700 blk. of Little St. 09-17/ 9:00 p.m. - 09-18/ 9:00 a.m. Stolen: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo, SUV, white.
