ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 2006

GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

3800 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave. 08-09/ 2:42 a.m. The victim had left his car, a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero, running and when he returned, he saw someone driving away in it. An officer observed the vehicle speeding south on Mount Vernon Avenue and soon located it, parked and unoccupied, at West Myrtle and Junior Streets. Another officer observed a person walking along a nearby street and stopped him. The person was identified a short time later as the car thief. Juan Angel Velasquez-Canales, 22, of 511 Four Mile Road, #204, in Alexandria, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny Auto, DWI and related traffic violations.
