ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18, 2006

ROBBERY:

1000 blk. of King St. 08-17/ 5:55 p.m. The victim, a 54-year-old Maryland resident and owner of the business, was robbed by a man who implied having a weapon. The suspect entered the business and demanded cash. The suspect stole a cash box and fled from the store on foot. Through investigation, police developed a suspect and later arrested him nearby. The suspect, Fred Avery, a 45-year-old male of no fixed address, was taken into custody and charged with Robbery.

BURGLARY:

1400 blk. of Highview La. 08-14/ 5:30 p.m. - 08-17/ 6:30 a.m. Someone entered the residence by undetermined means and stole jewelry.

Unit blk. of Canterbury Sq. 08-16/ 6:00 p.m. - 08-17/ 7:30 p.m. Someone entered the victim's storage bin by force and stole crystal glassware.
