ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS
MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2006
Hume and Mt. Vernon Aves. 08-20/ 7:42 p.m. The victim and the suspect were both driving their own cars when they became involved in a road rage incident. At the corner of Hume and Mt. Vernon Avenues, the victim, a 21-year-old Fairfax County man, and the suspect, a 69-year-old Alexandria man, exited their cars and began arguing. The argument escalated and the suspect returned to his vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Caravan, and then struck the victim with it. Witnesses in the area called police and the suspect drove away. The victim was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Officers located the suspect and his vehicle nearby and arrested him. Harry R. Carter, a resident of 217 East Custis Avenue, was charged with Malicious Wounding, Hit and Run, and Aggressive Driving.
ATTEMPT FELONIOUS ASSAULT:
N. Alfred and Montgomery Sts. 08-18/ between 1:48 a.m. and 2:28 a.m. The victim, a 21-year-old Alexandria woman, was in her vehicle when a gunshot struck her window. The victim suffered minor injuries from the broken glass and continued driving. She later reported the incident to police after returning home.
600 blk. of N. Jordan St. 08-19/ 9:41 p.m. The victim, a 55-year-old Alexandria woman, observed a man looking into her window. She yelled and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 17-23, 5'7"-5'10", and wearing a black shirt.
King St. at Scroggins Rd. 08-19/ 7:40 p.m. The victim, a 39-year-old Alexandria woman, was jogging when she observed the suspect sitting at the bus stop with his genitals exposed. The victim continued running and called police after returning home. The suspect is described as a black male, 30-35, and wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.
420 N. Van Dorn St. 08-19/ between 4:58 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The suspect gained entry to the hotel room through an open door. Once inside, the suspect stole money. The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30, 5'9"-5'11", 200-220 pounds, with long braided hair, and wearing shorts and a white shirt.
809 Pendleton St. 08-17/ 7:45 p.m. - 08-18/ 10:17 a.m. Someone broke out a window to gain entry to the business. Once inside, the suspect stole money.
400 blk. of N. Armistead St. 08-18/ 2:00 p.m. - 08-20/ 3:00 p.m. Someone forced open a door to gain entry to the residence. Nothing appears to be missing.
