ALEXANDRIA POLICE INCIDENTS
FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, 2006
3800 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave. 08-24/ 10:30 p.m. The victim, a 48-year-old Arlington man, was waiting at a bus stop when the suspect approached him and demanded the bag he was carrying. The victim moved away but the suspect continued toward him and assaulted him. When the victim called police from his cell phone, the suspect grabbed the phone from him and fled. Officers responded to area and later located the suspect on Elbert Ave. Elvis Amaya, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Robbery.
800 blk. of N. Washington St. 08-23/ 11:50 p.m. - 08-24/ 12:07 a.m. The victim, a 35-year-old Alexandria man, was walking when he was approached by two suspects. They demanded money and the victim stated he had none. The suspects then fled. One suspect is described as a black male, 16-18, 5'9"-5'11", 150-160 lbs., and wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a black male, 20-22, 5'10"-6', and wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
ASSAULT BY MOB:
800 blk. of King St. 08-24/ between 2:05 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. The victim, a 42-year-old California man, was driving when he encountered a group of people fighting on the street. Three of the subjects fighting turned their attention to the victim and his vehicle. One of them broke out a window and another punched the driver in the face. The suspects then fled in a grey pick-up truck. The victim was transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was treated and released. The suspects are white Hispanic males, 25-27. One is further described as 5'5"-5'6", 150-160 lbs., and wearing blue jeans, and a second is further described as 5'5"-5'7", 150-160 lbs.
5000 blk. of Fillmore. 08-23/ between 9:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The victim, a 27-year-old California woman, observed the suspect looking into a window at the residence she was visiting. The suspect, who was naked, is described as a black male, 28-32, 5'6"- 6'0", and 140-175 lbs.
ATTEMPT GRAND LARCENY AUTO-ARRESTS:
08-24/ between 11:40 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Police received three reports of subjects breaking into cars at different locations in south Old Town. The offenses occurred in the 700 block of S. Washington St., the 800 block of Church St., and the 400 block of S. Lee St. Officers responded and located the subjects in a car at S. Alfred and Gibbon Sts. The suspect vehicle continued driving and officers were able to block it at S. Patrick and Franklin Sts. Three juvenile male suspects in the car were arrested without incident. A 15-year-old, 14-year-old and 11-year-old, all from Washington, D.C., were charged with multiple counts of Attempted Grand Larceny Auto.
5200 blk. of Maris Ave. 08-24/ between 7:00 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. Someone gained entry to the residence by breaking a window. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry and electronic equipment.
