Self Defense
Classes for Women
The Office on Women's
Sexual Assault Response and Awareness (SARA) Program offers self-defense
classes for women throughout the year. The RAD course has been "designed
to develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked."
Ample class time
is provided to practice and develop newly learned self defense techniques.
Classes include identifying personal safety issues and learning risk
reduction strategies and basic principles of self defense. Instructors
will demonstrate and teach various self-defense actions, incorporating
strikes and kicking motions.
Each RAD program
has four sessions that are three hours in length. Class size is limited
to provide optimum training and practice. Courses are FREE; however,
a $20 donation is suggested.
